Abstract:

Objective

To explore the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for patients with peritoneal tumor recurrence after surgical resection of retroperitoneal giant liposarcoma.

Methods

Clinical data of a 45-year-old male patient with peritoneal tumor recurrence approximately 10 cm×9 cm in size after surgical resection of retroperitoneal giant liposarcoma were retrospectively analyzed. The procedures of two cycles of diagnoses and treatments and MDT highlights were reviewed. Relevant literatures at home and abroad were summarized.

Results

The patient underwent open resection of multiple abdominal tumors + cholecystectomy + omentectomy to successfully resect the tumors. Postoperative pathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of dedifferentiated lipoblastoma. The patient was recovered and discharged after treatment. At postoperative 45 d, the patient recurred and continued to be treated with targeted drugs (Apatinib at 500 mg qd).

Conclusion

It is difficult to deliver early diagnosis of retroperitoneal liposarcoma and perform the operation. MDT combined with imaging examination and clinicopathological features can make an accurate diagnosis. Comprehensive evaluation of early surgery can achieve certain clinical efficacy, whereas the overall prognosis of patients with dedifferentiated liposarcoma is poor.
