Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the association of the pathogenesis between ureaplasma urealyticum and female vesical mucosa leukoplakia.

Methods

Female patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (excluding neurogenic bladder, lower urinary tract bacterial infection, bladder and urethral calculi, overactive bladder, urinary system tuberculosis and bladder tumor, etc.) were enrolled into the study, and urethral secretion of ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and chlamydia trachomatis (CT) were detected by PCR-DNA. Cystoscope biopsy was performed on the central tissue of the bladder mucosa and tissue 3-5 cm beside it. Pathologic examination was conducted to determine whether leukoplakia was present. Immunohistochemical detection for the biopsy tissue of UU and CT antigen were performed, to comparing the test results to illustrate the correlation of UU infection and bladder mucosa white spot lesions.

Results

The expression level of UU antigen in the leukoplakia of the bladder mucosa was higher than that in the tissue beside the leukoplakia, while the expression rate of CT antigen was not different.

Conclusion

UU infection is associated with leukoplakia of bladder mucosa.
