Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the application and clinical significance of methylene blue staining in lymphatic-sparing laparoscopic varicocelectomy.

Methods

From March 2014 to March 2016, 91 patients received laparoscopic varicocelectomy because of left side varicocele in our hospital. They were randomly divided into two group. 46 cases in the control group and received spermatic artery-sparing laparoscopic varicocelectomy, 45 cases in research group and received spermatic artery-sparing and lymphatic-sparing laparoscopic varicocelectomy. All patients were followed up 6 months after the operation. The semen quality and postoperative complications were compared before and after surgery.

Results

All 91 patients' operation were successfully performed, 3 cases were excluded out of the research group because of poor staining. The operation time of research group was longer than that of control group. The rate of postoperative hydrocele testis and scrotal pain in control group were higher than that of the research group. There were significant differences between the two groups. Testicular atrophy and relapse had no significant difference between the two groups. Sperm density, vitality and motility were improved after surgery (P<0.001). There was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).

Conclusions

Methylene blue staining in lymphatic-sparing laparoscopic varicocelectomy is simple, it can improve semen quality, reduce postoperative complications and do not add the relapse risk.
