Evaluation of totally enclosed waste fluid collection device combined with funnel surgical membrane in transurethral resection of prostate

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application effects of totally enclosed waste fluid collection device in transurethral resection of prostate (TURP).

Methods

A self-designed questionnaire survey was conducted in 19 urological doctors and 30 operating room nurses in our hospital by random sampling method, to investigate the influences of different waste liquid collection devices on surgeons and nurses during TURP.

Results

Compared with the traditional device, the use of totally enclosed waste liquid collection device to collect medical waste liquid was significantly improved in terms of satisfaction of surgeons and nurses, operating space of surgeons, hospital infection control and physical strength saving (P<0.05).

Conclusions

The use of totally enclosed waste fluid collection device combined with funnel surgical membrane in TURP could improve hospital infection control, shorten the time to replace the waste fluid collection device, reduce the risk of occupational exposure and back pain, improve the surgical efficiency and the satisfaction of surgeons and nurses.
