Accessory spleen misdiagnosed as left adrenal neoplasms and summary of experience

Abstract:

Objective

To discuss the clinical feature and summary experience of accessory spleen in adrenal gland, to elevate differential diagnosis level.

Methods

Retrorespective reviewed clinical data of the patients which including ultrasound, enhanced CT, and other results of No.1 affilated hospital of China Medical University who were misdiagnosed as left adrenal neoplasm, but actually were accessory spleen.

Results

Both of the 2 cases were finally diagnosed as left adrenal area accessory spleen,both of their accessory spleen were preserved during the operation.

Conclusions

Accessory spleen are rare cases.Combining the feature of enhanced CT and other clinical resources which can help us to reduce the misdiagnosis opportunity.
