Superselective renal artery embolization in the treatment of a child with severe closed renal comminuted injury with active bleeding and literature review

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the safety and clinical significance of superselective renal artery embolization in the treatment of severe closed renal rupture with active bleeding.

Methods

A retrospective analysis of a child with severe closed renal rupture accompanied by active bleeding was performed in our department on September 1, 2020, who received highly selective embolization via renal artery.

Results

The bleeding was completely stopped after super-selective renal artery embolization treatment, and part of the kidney tissue and function was preserved. Finally, he was discharged from the hospital. The child’s renal function remained good after follow-up. There was no recurrence of hematuria, no other complications occurred.

Conclusion

The super-selective renal artery embolization therapy in the child with severe closed renal rupture and active bleeding has significant clinical effects, which can protect renal.
