Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the improvement of symptoms in patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS) treated by thermoelectric field therapy.

Methods

From April 2018 to March 2019, 57 CP/CPPS patients treated by LR-2005 thermoelectric field therapeutic Machine. The patients were aged 20-50 years, and the course of the disease was ranged from 3 months to 7 years. Among them, 17 patients with one period of therapy, 32 patients with two period of therapy, and the rest with three. Each patient underwent clinical assessment and answered the questionnaire consisted of NIH-CPSI,PUF, VAS, QOL, SAS and SDS. Compared and analyzed the scores statistically.

Results

After treatment, the NIH-CPSI total score [(25.05±6.32) vs (19.54±6.16)], PUF symptom score [(10.86±4.41) vs (8.46±4.11)], PUF distress score [(5.35 ± 2.88) vs (4.03±2.33)], VAS score [(3.97±2.40) vs (2.03±1.85)], QOL score [(4.89±1.27) vs (3.95±1.25)], SAS score [(37.35±8.76) vs (34.00±8.14)], SDS score [(34.41±7.43) vs (32.05±4.78)] were all decreased significantly (P<0.01). The NIH-CPSI score increased in numbers of mild and moderate, while the severe decreased significantly (P<0.01). No special discomfort or adverse reactions occurred after treatment.

Conclusion

Thermoelectric field therapy can effectively alleviate inflammation and pain response, improve voiding symptoms, reduce anxiety and depression of CP/CPPS patients, and improve the quality of life. Its clinical curative effect is remarkable, and it fits the "painless, non-invasive and non-interventional" treatment model advocated by WHO. It was worth of promoting in clinical application.
