Research progress of lower urinary tract symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in comorbidity mode

Abstract

Abstract:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are common in middle-aged and elderly men, and the prevalence of these diseases increases significantly with the increase of age. BPH is usually characterized by lower urinary tract symptoms, and most patients showed a significant improvement in LUTS after receiving active surgical intervention. However, postoperative follow-up showed that patients with BPH combined with CVD risk factors had poor improvement in LUTS after surgery. This article discusses the role of each risk factor, including hypertension, diabetes, obesity and hyperlipidemia, in the development and progression of BPH, and further explores the current research status of LUTS in BPH patients with co-existing CVD risk factors, with the aim of providing certain reference for the prevention and treatment of LUTS in BPH patients with CVD through targeted intervention measures.
