Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the relationship between double J tube indwelling duration and the incidence of complication after ureteroscopy holmium laser lithotripsy.

Methods

According to the time of indwelling stent 264 patients from January 1, 2017 to August 1, 2019 were divided into two groups. The patients with two weeks of indwelling time were group Ⅰ, and the patients with one month of indwelling time were group Ⅱ. The stone clearance rate and the incidence of complication were compared and analyzed between the two group.

Results

Before the removal of ureteral stent, the incidence of double J tube surface calculus formation, ureteral stent symptoms questionnaire (USSQ) score and quality of life score in group Ⅰ were lower than that in group Ⅱ, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), but there were no significant differences in urinary tract infection, double J tube ectopia, and stone removal rate between the two groups (P>0.05). One week after stent removal: there was no significant difference in USSQ score and quality of life score between the two groups (P>0.05).

Conclusion

Shortening the time of stent placement after holmium laser lithotripsy for ureteral calculi can reduce the occurrence of complications such as lower urinary tract symptoms, physical pain, double J-tube surface stone formation, and improve the quality of life and has no significant effect on the stone removal rate.
