Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinical application of double J -Folys catheter binding complex in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy.

Methods

The clinical data of 68 patients with unilateral middle and lower ureteral calculi and hydronephrosis in General Hospital of the Yangtze River Shipping from June 2016 to December 2018 were analyzed retrospectively, including 40 males and 28 females, with an average age of (52±13) years, and the calculi diameter with an average of (1.2±0.2) cm.

Results

All patients underwent transurethral holmium laser lithotripsy and were successfully implanted with a double J-Folys catheter binding complex. The operation time was 20-40 minutes with an average of (31±5) minutes. Postoperative low back pain occurred in 8 patients. Postoperative flank pain occurred in 8 patients. There was no cases of catheter - double J tube disconnecting. After catheter removal, 15 patients developed fever, and 10 patients got low back pain. All patients were followed up 1 month after operation without residual calculi. Hydronephrosis disappeared in 50 patients and decreased in 18 patients compared with that before operation. The patients were followed up 3 months after operation, and all the patients recovered from hydroureter. No postoperative ureteral stricture was found in all patients.

Conclusions

Indwelling double J-Folys catheter binding complex can reduce postoperative symptoms, improve postoperative quality of life, and save medical costs.
