Abstract:

Objective

To explore the efficacy of simultaneous flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser lithotripsy for bilateral renal or ureteral calculi.

Methods

The clinical data of 27 patients who underwent simultaneous flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser lithotripsy for bilateral renal or ureteral calculi in our hospital between August 2013 and March 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 20 stones in upper ureteral, the diameter of the stone was ranged from 0.8 to1.4 cm, mean (1.1±0.6) cm. There were 42 stones in renal, the diameter of the stones was ranged from 0.5 to 2.3 cm, mean (1.7±0.9) cm. Clinical data including operation time, stone-free rate and complication were analyzed.

Results

The average operation time was (72±29) min (rang 55 to 195 min), with no severe complications. The stone free rate was 88.7% (55/62), the success rate were 100% (20/20) and 83.3% (35/42) in upper ureteral and renal respectively.

Conclusions

Simultaneous bilateral flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser lithotripsy was safe and effective. And it could be carried out in clinical, with this prerequisite of strict selection of patients and skilled operation.
